1980s-phones

Which of these 1980’s Phones would you have wanted?

The easy answer for me on this one is the Pac-Man phone. It is the obvious choice for someone with my tastes, but in 1983, when these appeared in magazines, I was just started to hear about cordless phones. So while Pac-Man would have made me feel like I was living the arcade life, the cordless phone would have made me feel like I was living in the future.

  1. The large desk phone looks like it would’ve had a lot of state-of-the-art features that we’re used to today, but the Atari lover in me would go with the Pac-Man phone!

  2. Atari Adventure Square says:

Ah, the Pac-Man phone! But then…ol’Pac might’ve taken my head for a power pellet and then where would I be.

No, the button-tastic phone would make me feel like I was getting somewhere in life! Yeah!
But then, I don’t have that many uses for all those buttons, don’t know that many people or businesses that would want me to call ‘up on a pokey whim.

Wireless? In the 80s, my best firend lived next door and had a CB/talkie rig he’d use all night which would bleed through Real People on NBC and force me to call him up to interrupt his fun for the sake of determining what the heck Sarah Purcell was talking about.
Same luck with unwired phone calls, I imagine. And I couldn’t then call my friend cuz…I’m already on the phone!

No, no. Good old Genie hone for me.
Nice, round futuro-Deco feel. Good old rotary action. Strong, sturdy, grip receiver.
Hours of moist, red-eared soreness with that one.

    eh…where’s the order form?
