I grew up in NJ, so the Chicago Bears were not our local team, but the 1985 Chicago Bears were so media friendly that I don’t think a single person in my town didn’t know at least a few members of the team. Even those of us who did not really follow football. Of all the Bears from that team, William “The Refrigerator” Perry was probably the one I liked the most. He was larger than life and more importantly to kid, had a fun nickname. When he started doing commercials like this one for McDonald’s it just helped to cement his name and image in my mind.
