See Iron Maiden Live at Trout Aire Amphitheater in 1985

The year was 1985 and if you were into heavy metal and anywhere near Forest Lake, MN you were making plans to hit the Trout Aire Amphitheater to see Iron Maiden and rain or shine, these Monsters of Metal were coming to rock your world!

I saw lots of commercials like this when I was a kid in New Jersey for various venues. A lot of my close friends got REALLY into metal and would drag me along to see these concerts. I cannot say I ever became a discerning metal fan, I never had the right hair or attitude to pull it off, but I always had a great time at the shows.

My friend and I saw Iron Maiden on this tour in Portland and they were very impressive. We were talking while waiting to leave our seats about how perfect the sound in the arena was and the guy next to us said Iron Maiden’s crew does way more intense sound checks than any band they had ever seen. We weren’t so lucky to get Accept as an opener, though (Accept’s Udo Dirkschneider is actually the the guy in the top picture here).
