Behind The Scenes: Land Of The Lost’s “Dopey” (1975)

Finding myself with a rare moment of free time this morning I was flipping through some old issues of Starlog when I came upon this behind the scenes shot of a stop-motion animator working with the Marshall’s family pet/pack mule “Dopey” from the Sid & Marty Krofft produced Land of the Lost TV series.

In my youth I was a big fan of the show though I didn’t see it in it’s original broadcast but as part of the Krofft Superstars syndication in 1978. I can vividly remember sitting in the middle of the living room floor at my Great-Grandmother’s house every Saturday morning with a heaping bowl of Chex cereal and getting really, really creeped out any time a Sleestak would show up.

I mean look at these guys...pretty intimidating for an eight year old!

I mean look at these guys…pretty intimidating for a six year old!

So why don’t you set aside some free time for yourself and watch the third episode from Season 1 that introduced the character?
