Terminator 2…Was An Odd Choice For A Toy Line

Hands down Terminator 2 was a monster of a box office hit back in 1991 with a domestic take of $204,843,345. I can recall it was STILL playing at one of my local movie theaters even at the point it had been released onto Home Video.

Being an R rated film it seemed rather odd that Kenner would market the film to kids in the Terminator 2 toy line, I would assume most of those children didn’t get a chance to see the movie for themselves until quite a few years later. Perhaps it was the success they achieved with the 1989 Batman films that was the deciding factor? All of the crazy Batman variants that were released a couple of years after the film might explain the hidden rocket launcher that we see in this toy commercial that is used to dispatch the T-1000!
