Stand out from the Crowd in your 1979 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

When I was in High School, I had a friend who was a really good mechanic and boy did he love Monte Carlos. He would sing their praises from morning till night if you let him. My mechanical aptitude being low, all I knew is that it was a big car and when he was done doing what he did to it, that car roared with power. The one thing I never associated with his souped up car was luxury, the interior was rough and the ride was loud and not exactly smooth, so it is really interesting to me to see this late seventies ad, that stresses the luxury and difference you will get when you are the proud owner of a Monte Carlo.

I really hoped my dad would get a Monte Carlo. They seemed the epitome of affordable luxury to me – way nicer than our 1965 Pontiac Catalina.

  2. We had a 79 monte carlo when I was a teenager (around 1992 or so). I liked the design & the size of the interior, way more comfy & less cramped than newer cars. (Mind you, I’m not talking about the smoothness of the ride or anything, just the space, the sitting position, etc.)
