Retro Records: The Invisible Man (1974)

Welcome back friends to another Retro Records! This time we are presenting an offering from The Wonderland Imagination Theatre records label and it is the story of the Invisible Man! What little I was able to find about this record label is that they were originally released in the 60s under the Bell Records “High Camp Adventure” label before being re-released in the early 70s on the Wonderland label.

Thanks to this scan from the back of the LP album from the Marvel Masterworks Fansite Forums it seems they were solely releasing adaptation of literary classics like Black Beauty, the Invisible Man, the Call of the Wild, the First Man in the Moon, The Time Machine, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Mutiny on the Bounty, War of the Worlds, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Around The World In 80 Days.

Also of note is that the legendary illustrator Wally Wood (Daredevil, Mad Magazine) did the covers of at least six of the albums, including the Invisible Man. This is a pretty fantastic LP and I personally think the music and in particular the actor portraying Dr. Griffin is trying to sound a bit like the Invisible Man from the 1933 film classic starring Claude Rains.
