I was initially attracted to this late eighties commercial for Moncton, New Brunswick’s “Sounds Fantastic” electronics store because I love the music and the visuals. The repeating logo, that driving beat, those shots of classic electronics, what is not to like?
After watching it a few times though I started to fixate on this “Made in Canada” Blue Optic tube from Electrohome. I couldn’t find anything about this seemingly ground-breaking new TV technology, but I did learn a little about Electrohome. They were one of Canada’s largest manufacturers of televisions from 1949 to 1984. So a lot of great Canadian TV memories were on an Electrohome.
