To this day if I get into a car with leather seats I feel the need to praise them as “fine” or “rich” Corinthian leather. I don’t even know what Corinthian leather is, but because Ricardo Montalban spoke the words so beautifully and convincingly in a long running series of ads for Chrysler, it is always the first thing that pops into my head.
I have since found out that Corinthian leather was a marketing ploy. It just sounded good and that most of the leather used in these cars, according to Wikipedia, actually came from Newark, NJ. I guess find New Jersey Leather just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
