Cindy Brady helps introduce the Sindy Doll to the United States

Sindy was already popular in the United Kingdom when an attempt was made to bring it to the US market in the late seventies. One of the people they brought in for the introduction is actress Susan Olsen, who played Cindy on the TV show, “The Brady Bunch”. (Cindy introduces Sindy? Genius!) Unfortunately Sindy was not a huge hit and it would lead to redesigns, sales of the IP and lawsuits.

I am not sure this ad does a great job selling Sindy, who I think is supposed to be an alternative to Barbie. Stressing how she can move and be played with and then demonstrating a tiny range of motion just brings the commercial to a grinding halt.
