In the late seventies, Lipton introduced the lemon flavored drink mix, Lemon Tree. Since I guess everyone at the time still associated the name “Lemon Tree” with the folk song of the same name, they decided to use a folk-style singer to push this new brand. The commercial starts off normally enough, but then gets interesting as the inset box with the singer continues to serenade family after family.
What makes it fun is that both he and the families, even though they are in separate screens are aware of, and play off each other.
