In this commercial from the late Seventies, actor Vic Tayback looks like he is having a rough Christmas. He has a lot to do and he just wants to put some delicious Parkay margarine on his bread without having to do the classic Butter-Parkay back-and-fourth with the talking margarine tub.
What happens next makes this commercial meta, self-referential, and kind of sweet moment when the Parkay tub goes completely out of character. It is a Christmas advertising miracle that makes Santa Vic Tayback almost giddy with joy.
