Retro Records: Mickey Mouse’s Birthday Party

Mickey Mouse turned 82 years old a little over a week ago! It was on November 18, 1928 that Steamboat Willie first wowed audiences with not only Mickey’s antics but by including sound in that animated short.

To make up for missing his birthday I felt it would be the perfect time to share this 78RPM record and storybook released by Captiol Records entitled “MickeyMouse’s Birthday Party”, thanks to the folks over at Kiddie Records Weekly.

Mickey Mouse's Birthday Party
In this story we find many of Mickey’s friends visiting his house to help celebrate his birthday in grand style, namely songs and laughs. Party attendees include the likes of Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck, Bambi, The Three Little Pigs, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and more. You will also get a few characters that normally do not speak sharing their voices in this particular recording and if I’m not mistaken we have the voice work of not only Stan Freberg but June Foray in the mix!
