I ask you, who better to be the spokesperson for a contest than Monty Hall of “Let’s Make a Deal Fame”? Coca-Cola used Monty in this commercial for their mid-eighties “Hot Tops” contest. This type of contest, which is pretty common nowadays, was still pretty novel at the time.
I was pretty excited for this particular contest since my family were Coke drinkers (which I assumed made me a shoe-in). Sadly we did not drink enough for my liking, so I would take extra steps in the hopes of increasing my odds of winning. What would I do? I would fish around in the trash at the corner store trying to find winning tops. Sadly I never found one, instead all I ever got was sticky with secondhand soda pop leavings.
