Before My Secret Identity, maybe around the time of Stand By Me, a young Jerry O’Connell was featured in this ad for the Christa McAuliffe Scholarship Fund. The scholarship was to honor the memory of Christa McAuliffe, the high school teacher who lost her life in the space shuttle Challenger explosion.
The tone of this commercial is somber and respectful, but had a positive message of taking risks to fulfill your dreams. I keep waiting for NASA to need a nostalgia blogger to go into space, and when they do, I will heed the call. Until then I will keep watching old commercials and drawing space shuttles in my notebook.
