I fired up my Commodore 64 thousands of times in the eighties and none of the things in this commercial ever happened. No rocking music. No graphics come to life and zooming around the room. No crowds of adoring onlookers. Nothing.
I would tell myself that it didn’t matter, that those things would be a distraction as a I logged my 5000th hour on Pirates!, but when I turned off the computer and stared at my lonely reflection in the TV screen, I couldn’t help but feel that a little distraction would be okay.
