Saturday Frights: The Cat With Hands (2001)

Welcome back friends to the Retroist Vault for another installment of Saturday Frights! This week we have a delightfully wicked horror short for your viewing enjoyment that manages to gives us dark thrills and chills that feels like a mix between Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and a 1970’s Hammer film.

Entitled ‘The Cat With Hands’ it involves an old timer telling a young man about a little boy that happend to pull up from a well a cat with hands…of course this turns out to be a very bad thing indeed. Written, Directed, and Animated by Robert Morgan with the flashback sequences of the tale we get a mix of live action and stop-motion animation that adds to the surreal horror of it all.

So turn out the lights and lean closer to the monitor as you join us for Saturday Frights as we listen to the story of The Cat With Hands.

  1. Agreed, Caffeinated Joe! With the stop-motion effects it lends an almost dream-like quality to the whole thing…or nightmarish quality I guess we should say.
