Conans is a restaurant chain still serving Chicago-style deep dish pizza to the good people of the Austin, TX area. I have only been to Austin once in my life, so I have not had the pleasure of stopping into a Conans. I had not even heard of it until I found this commercial they produced in the 1980s.
For a local food chain this ad is pretty clever ,with the commercial’s pitchman basically just describing what is going on in the commercial while it is happening. This really focuses attention on the people in the background and the results are quite comical.
I doubt they still run this commercial, but even in its retro state, its tongue-in-cheek qualities would it a pretty good ad for a modern pizza place.
