The first time I played River Raid was at my cousin’s house and it blew my mind. It was fast-paced and seemed infinitely replayable. I immediately began saving for it and because of some birthday money I was able to pick it up in less than a month. Bringing it home from Toys-R-Us I remember staring at the box and pouring over the instructions.
When I got home I ran straight to the Atari and began playing. That first day I must have played for nearly 9 hours straight.
I still have that copy of the game, although the box and instructions are long gone. I also still think the game is very replayable, although I do not play it as often as I should (I grab Pitfall most of the time).
