What is the secret of Chewels’ Sugarless Gum?

I was a big fan of Freshen Up (the gum that goes squirt), but do you remember a similar gum called Chewels? Chewels was very similar to Freshen Up in that it also had a liquid center. That was just as delightful and somewhat disconcerting as its rival. Some might argue that Freshen Up had the more catchy commercials, and that is why it beat Chewels, but I think you will see that Chewels did not slack when it came to advertising…

Smack dab in the middle. Smack dab in the middle. Smack dab in the middle of the gum is the secret to Chewels’ sugarless fun, a delicious center filling where others have none, smack dab in the middle of the gum.
