In writing lots of posts recently about Godzilla, it reminded me that I still own a Godzilla-based game for my Nintendo Gamecube. Released in 2002, Destroy All Monsters Melee was a great little game that had you fighting with or against Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, Megalon, Rodan, Destoroyah, King Ghidorah and more (plus variants) across lots of cities and other arenas.
The intro is a lot of fun:
There are loads of videos on Youtube that feature gameplay, including clips from the (apparently) superior Microsoft Xbox update. I’ve included my favourite below which shows Adventure mode being completed in around 20 minutes using Mecha-Ghidorah as the monster. Keep an eye out for those Mothra airstrikes!
If you’ll excuse me, I need to go and dust off my Gamecube controller…
