Free LEGO with Jell-O, circa 1987

Thanks to the wonderful Tumblr blog that is Neo-Monzopolis (obscurum oer obscurius), I discovered this wonderful marketing coup from the Fall 1987 issue of Thundercats magazine – Jell-O giving away free LEG-O!

To get your 30 piece LEGO Basic Building Set or 25 piece Legoland Formula 1 Racer Set was surprisingly simple, requiring only 1 proof of purchase from any package of Jell-O Gelatin Pops. I don’t think I’ve ever tried frozen whipped Gelatin on a stick – is it nice?

  1. That is quite amazing. Only 1 proof of purchase! Never tried those Gelatin Pops. I remember writing to LEGO headquarters when I was a kid and asking them how many LEGOs I needed to build the White House. They wrote back saying they don’t know, but they gave a free small bag of LEGOs!
