Toy Story’s Talking Woody and Intergalactic Buzz Lightyear

When Toy Story came to theaters, I didn’t get to see it for at least a month, but when I did I fell in love. I think I saw it 3 times in the theater in rapid succession afterwards and then picked it up on home video. The following year I was gifted my first Toy Story toy, a glittering Intergalactic Buzz Lightyear. He immediately took a place of honor on a shelf with most of my other prized toys, but he would not last long.

About a month after getting him I came home to find Buzz had fallen off the floor and broke into a dozen pieces. I am not sure how it happened. None of the other toys were moved or disturbed. I can only assume that the Evil Emperor Zerg had a hand in poor Buzz’s demise and I have been plotting my revenge ever since.

  1. The great thing about Toy Story is that I think it is a toy line that will just keep going for years and years. It’ll be 20 years old in 2015 and my 4 and 1 year old boys LOVE Buzz, Woody and the gang and are still receiving new Toy Story toys. I expect in another 20 years time they will both have very fond memories of the characters and will still be able to buy new merchandise for any youngsters in their lives!
