Saturday Frights: The Dummy – Short Film (1982)

Saturday Frights - Sean Hartter
In 1982 thanks to HBO and Showtime who picked up this student short film entitled “The Dummy”…my fear of ventriloquist dolls that Poltergeist started kept getting hammered home. Louis La Volpe (Sarah, The Dummy) both wrote and directed this charming piece of horror, a simple tale of a woman in her apartment being stalked by of course a murderous ventriloquist dummy…though I have a sneaking suspicion that all ventriloquist dolls are murderous.

You see...this is pretty much what I assume all ventriloquist dolls look like as they come off the factory showroom.

  1. Matt Lappie says:

    Vic,
Did you ever see the short on HBO about a reel of movie tape that came to life and ate a man, kind of like The Blob? I can’t remember the name……but it has stuck with me for many a year.

  2. Matt, that does ring a bell in my cobweb lined memory! Hm, let me see what I can find out and if I can’t post another Saturday Frights. :)
