Thanks to Xbox Wire for the heads up on the exciting news regarding the Atari landfill excavation taking place in Alamogordo, New Mexico! In their press release it was announced that the dig would be opened to the public for spectating purposes and that not only is a documentary in the works from director Zak Penn (X-Men 2, Avengers) but original programmer on the E.T. cartridge, Howard Scott Warshaw, will also be present during the dig.
Will they find anything? I personally hope they do though there is a good chance that whatever they might find is going to be demolished beyond belief, but that is just my opinion. No matter what this is a nice moment for all Atari fans to get together and lay this fascinating rumor to rest…and possibly get interviewed in the documentary.
Make sure to visit Xbox wire by following the link provided up top for more details and if you attend…make sure to wear that “The Retroist Rules” T-Shirt!
