I was browsing through an old folder of files recently and found a 6-page She-Ra Princess of Power PDF, detailing the then-upcoming series and highlighting the opportunities available to retailers who supported the new show.
Page 2 (below) announces a major licensing program supported by 65 half-hour TV shows from Filmation, a line of action figures from Mattel and a substantial advertising campaign – the same ingredients that made Masters of the Universe a worldwide success!
The remainder of the pages have character line art, including the Crystal Castle. These make excellent references for anyone who is interested in drawing the characters.
Whilst I love the Masters of the Universe show, She-Ra didn’t appeal to me. It was clearly aimed at the fairer sex and, other than my interest in their shared universe, I can’t recall too much about the stories or characters.
Despite my general ignorance of the show, the fan-art for the Princess of Power, her friends and her enemies, is almost always exceptional. Check out the She-Ra art at my Tumblr blog to see what I mean :- The 80’s Cartoon Fan-art Blog – She-Ra edition.
