Take A Moment To Watch This Incredible Animated Tribute To Doctor Who By Chang Dai

Doctor Who - Chang Dai
Like a lot of people who visit the site I am a fan of Doctor Who (Pertwee is still the best) and believe me when I tell you that by the end of this animated short by the amazingly talented Chang Dai I was more than a little misty-eyed. Chang has done a remarkable job of capturing the spirit of each of the actors who has so far had the privilege of playing the part of the Doctor and the final image in particular is very moving.

  1. Thomas Orth says:

My First exposure to Doctor Who was in 1989 when we moved to a city with cable reception (german Cable TV). We received a ton of Channels that were later closed down one of them was Super Channel. I always was interested into the english language as a kid and this channel was loaded with Shows and Movies in english. The First Doctor Who expierience was with the Serial “Robots of Death” with the Fifth Doctor – Tom Baker. I never could fully watch a serial, because i never knew when it was on the air. And my Family didn’t let me watch that show (Back then i didn’t own a TV set) because its all in english and so forth. Years passed and i’ve almost forgot about it as suddenly RTL started to show “Doctor Who” in german. I was a little upset to find out that they replaced the actor (i did not know about regeneration) we watched the few episodes that where shown on RTL. Decades passed and never where any re-runs shown of these episodes, i researched on the Net to find information about the series. I did not know that this series was shown from 1963 – 1987 (I found that out long before the New series was made) i was impressed.

As for Lord of the Rings – I watched the Ralph Bashki adaption on VHS in the 80’s.

I think the animation by Chang Dai is just great, i wish he was given a job to animate either a series or a Film in his style!

  2. I agree with you 100%, Thomas! Chang should be allowed to come up with a feature film or get access so he might create a TV series featuring his animation style, at least we know two people that would watch it! Thanks for sharing your Dr. Who memories as well. :)
