So, what is a “Carbon-Dated Reference?”

As a professional writer and cartoonist for more than 20 years, I have created published works and other stuff that never went beyond the initial inspiration and excitement. As I look back on certain sketches, doodles and notes, I often see missed opportunities for gags. Jokes that were “of their time” that would feel dated today. Think Tonya Harding, Joey Buttafuoco and Rodney Allen Rippy.

Carbon-Dated Reference is a one-panel comic strip that will serve as a “WABAC machine” to those halcyon days of pop culture history, published on a site custom-made for it: The Retroist.

So, sit back and relax with a can of New Coke or Pepsi Blue, and enjoy some yucks about Reggie Bars, AfterMASH and AOL dial-up internet.
