Let Yourself go to Pizza Hut

While we did not have any Pizza Huts in my area, they did run the commercials and I always wanted to go. Not because of the way the pizza looked. Even at an early age, I developed a pizza “type” that I still seek out now. No, I wanted to go to Pizza Hut because people in the commercial always looked so happy. Look at this ad from the 1970s, with its overstuffed and animated father and well fed and well entertained kids and tell me that Pizza Hut doesn’t look like one of the more enjoyable places to eat.

I used to like going to Pizza Hut when I was a kid. I lived in a small town, and the nearest Pizza Hut was about 40 miles away, but we’d go there on special occasions. My town didn’t have an actual pizza place, so most of the pizza I ate as a kid was either frozen or a Chef Boyardee mix. So Pizza Hut was definitely a step up for me.

That commerical definitely got one thing right. Pizza Hut is truly for people who let themselves go.
