The Return of Wily Kit and Wily Kat

Wily Kit and Wily Kat

Back in 2003. when Wildstorm Comics brought the Thundercats back to life, they took an interesting turn in the second of their five mini-series – they found a little smut!

The basic story of “The Return” mini series was simple enough. Lion-O was out of action due to a training mishap and Mumm-Ra had taken over Thundera, enslaving the remaining ‘cats. As you can see from the image above, the enslavement was a little more deprived than a simple dungeon lock up!

Thundercats The Return

The first time I read through this story, I didn’t like it. But reading it again now, it’s actually quite fun to see something a little more ‘out there’ from the characters. The best part is the art though, something I didn’t appreciate 10 years ago. It might not be to everyone’s liking but the artists did an amazing job in this series.

  1. I found a couple of issues from this series in a longbox that I bought at a Black Friday sale a few years ago. After flipping through them, I was taken aback by the appearance of Wilykit and Wilykat. I didn’t actually read the story because I think I only have issues 3 and 5 but after reading this, I may try to track down the ones I need a give it a shot.

I liked how J. Scott Campbell made the TCats look a little more cat-like in appearance… Something I always felt was missing in the original, as they looked more human than cat…
