At a teen, I owned the best computer ever created – an Amiga 500! It may have been surpassed technologically but I still firmly believe that my 500 was one of the greatest things I’ve ever owned. Long ago I sold it and have regretted it ever since, but thankfully, I have my memories and one of those memories is of the Magnetic Fields intro.
This 9 second intro preceded a number of high-profile and excellent race games such as Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge and Super Cars and for many years has rattled around in my head as one of the best sounding 9 seconds ever created. Have a listen…
Until today, I had assumed that the developer created this little ditty but that is not the case. The intro is actually part of Richard Wagner’s Siegfried Funeral March and sounds much better when not filtered through the Amiga’s Paula sound chip.
So is this the best developer intro or are there better ones out there?
