The “Famous Monsters Of Filmland” Star Wars Specials

In 1977, America was experiencing a summer of Star Wars, and to celebrate, Warren Magazines gave up three consecutive covers of its Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine to the soon-to-be phenomenon.

Being British and unborn at the time, I wasn’t aware of the hype for the upcoming film but I imagine it was wonderful.

I’d love to read the actual ‘Monsters magazines for myself but for now I’ll settle for the covers and hope that someone somewhere makes them available for legal digital download.

All three of these covers were found at Slow Robot’s Starlogged Blog.

I actually have all three of these magazines. When we remodeled my son’s room with a Star Wars theme, I framed these three issues and a MAD magazine issue with a Star Wars cover and put them on his wall…I love seeing them everyday.
