With the Spirit of Gouging, I mean Giving upon us it seemed the perfect time to shear, ahem, share this Horrid Holiday treat from the Tales From The Crypt TV series! This was actually the second episode in the series and while having a Christmas setting it originally debuted back on June 10, 1989. I guess you can say it’s a remake of the same story from the 1972 Tales From The Crypt movie, in that segment you had a young Joan Collins playing the role of the Wife who is stalked by a deranged madman in a Santa Claus suit. This remake stars Mary Ellen Trainor (Die Hard, Lethal Weapon) as the Wife, who at the time was married to the Director of this episode, Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?). The madman role goes to none other than future Doctor Giggles star, Larry Drake, this go around and even though the Wife does a horrible deed…especially during the Holidays…I found I was far more sympathetic to Trainor’s character than when Joan Collins played the part.
So turn down the lights, grab a cup of egg nog and make sure you know where all of the fireplace pokers are as you settle down with us for some Tales From The Crypt!
