In this interview from 1986, Cyndi Lauper appeared on the Japanese TV show, “The Best Hit USA”, to promote her recent album “True Colors”. I do not know much about Japanese television, but I think “The Best Hit USA” is still on television over there (or at least was recently).
In this appearance, Lauper talks about the pressures of doing a follow-up to a hit, her last appearance, her desire to act, the guests on her record and much more. I think the most interesting part of the interview is when Lauper starts talking about feminism. It offers interesting insight into the mid-1980s music culture.
