Jack Webb certainly had a style that William Shatner would adopt years later.

Now for the record I’m not sharing the video to poke fun at Jack Webb, not in the least, he was a very big fan of jazz music. Here however is a clip from an interview with Alan Alda relating a story he was told by Dragnet co-star Henry Morgan on how serious Jack Webb really was on the set.
