Watch the First Pizza Being Ordered via Computer in 1974

In this demonstration of early computer speech, the computer is not sending in the order, but instead is being used to give voice to a person who has none. This demo is a perfect way to show the promise of a technology and how it can affect people’s live immediately through a simple task we would take for granted, ordering a pizza by phone.

It is interesting to watch the technology evolve right before our eyes. Not only does the person using the computer need to learn, but the people taking the call require some education. Great stuff.

  1. Atari Adventure Square says:

Yeah Justin, it seems things haven’t changed too much on that end.

But this also gives me hope that if the MCP relocates to some backup MMO server, somewhere in the world, it won’t go hungry.

(yeah, I know. Programs only drink liquid Energy from the Grid’s streams. Work with me here)
