Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!

On September 26, 1937, The Shadow radio drama hit the airwaves with “The Deathhouse Rescue”. It was here that The Shadow was given the power of invisibility by clouding men’s minds. A potent power indeed.

Voiced by Orson Welles from 1937 to the 1938, The Shadow is still some of the most compelling radio you will ever listen to. So if you are trying to get in the mood for the Halloween season, Old Time Radio will often do the trick and The Shadow is the Cadillac of Old Time Radio.

  1. I picked up a couple of CDs maybe 10 years or so ago with The Shadow radio broadcasts. I found them at Cracker Barrel, of all places. It’s a great show, but I had no idea they were voiced by Orson Welles. I really love old radio. I ran across another gem a couple years ago–an LP recording of The War of the Worlds. It’s brilliant, but my turntable gave out on me recently so I’ve got to get it fixed. Halloween is a great time for old radio.
