Thanks to Decaying Hollywood Mansions and the original glamor photographer, George Hurrell, we have this wonderful publicity shot for 1939’s The Return of Doctor X! Looks like Humphrey Bogart is prepared to collect a little blood for his experiments…in large quantities!

At this point in his career Bogart had already secured 35 roles in films like Kid Galahad, Crime School, Angels With Dirty Faces, Dark Victory, and The Roaring Twenties. It wouldn’t be until another two years before he starred in The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca the year after that and secured his place in Hollywood.
