Rockin’ the TRS-80 Color Computer in 1982

According to the poster and subject of this photo, petecj, he asked for an Intellivision for Christmas in 1981 and instead he received a TRS-80 Color Computer. If I had gone down to the tree and torn open a box and received a computer, I think my head would have exploded from all the happy thoughts that flooded into my brain at once.

As you can see from the photo. Pete looks pretty excited.

  1. I got a coco3 in about 1989 or 1990 & still have it. I had hooked it up several years ago and it still worked. It was the first computer I ever owned (though I had often used appleII ones in school & at the library). I had a joystick & a single floppy drive for mine (never had a tape recorder for it though, although I probably could have used a regular tapedeck). I had 4 games for it; malcolm mortar, thexder, shanghai (all cartridge games), and rogue (floppy disc). I played all of them to death.
I also typed in a number of programs from the manual & from computer/science magazines (remember those free progs?) and saved them to disc, wrote a few progs of my own, and played around with some of the pre-written ones in the magazines & manuals.

My 1st computer was a 4K TRS-80 Color Computer circa 1981 and I still have it displayed with my other vintage systems. Lots of good memories o summer vacation playing and programming and listening to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album.
