The Retroist Guide to 2013 Comic Con

San Diego Comic Con is an amazing celebration of things old and new for comics and genre film, TV, art and games. But, I’ll let you in on a little secret. It’s far easier to navigate Comic Con if you focus on the retro aspects. Let the crowds line up days in advance for a sneak peek at the movie adaptation of Ender’s Game. If you want to attend the Battlestar Galactica 35th Anniversary Celebration, you’ll only have to endure a short wait to get into the event. With that in mind, here are just a few of the great retro themed events at this year’s Con:

-Battlestar Galactica 35th Anniversary
-30 Years of Hasbro Transformers (okay, that one makes me feel old, for some reason, even though the Battlestar one doesn’t)
-We Love the 80s – 1983 Year in Review
-X-Files 20th Anniversary

-100 Years of Tarzan
-Roger Rabbit 25th Anniversary

-The Tick 25th Anniversary
-Sid & Marty Krofft
-Indy Fans

Those are just a few events that interested me. I’ll never be able to attend all of them, so if anyone gets a chance to see these or others, please let us know via the comments, the forum, or by writing a post yourself.

  1. Excellent post as always, Vinvectrex! Looking forward to learning more about what you get to see this year at the Con…for those of us that sadly will not be able to attend. :)

Great post. Glad to see Comic-Con isn’t all about the new.

Hopefully that 1983 year in review isn’t all Return of the Jedi.

Let us know which panels you attend.
