The Haunted Castle is a three-minute-long film by Georges Melies made in 1896. It is considered by many to be the very first Horror film ever made, although I am not so sure it was ever really made to instill horror. Instead it seems more clever than frightening.
The film was thought lost to history, but a copy was found in the late 1980s in New Zealand and now it is in the public domain for everyone to enjoy.
