This ad for the Pac-Man on the Atari 2600 does a great job of masking the deficiencies of this sometimes maligned title. It has a great animated intro and a kinetic gaming sequence complete with music and original Pac-Man audio to mask the 2600 sounds. This commercial is a perfect example of what Atari did wrong with managing expectations for the game. Yes, you can see the graphics are different, but the rest of the ad pretty much completely obfuscates the sound and game-play. Still if you take screenshots from the commercial, you can see the disappointment on these actor’s faces. It is subtle, but even the best actor can not cover that up.
