Ralph Bakshi’s Heavy Traffic Comes to Blu-Ray on July 16th

Great news for Ralph Bakshi fans, Shout! Factory is releasing his masterpiece, Heavy Traffic, on Blu-Ray on July 16th.

From Ralph Bakshi, the legendary director of Fritz The Cat and The Lord Of The Rings (1978), comes the surreal tale of Michael Corleone, a young cartoonist scraping by on the inner-city streets of New York. Using pinball as a metaphor for the highs and lows of urban life, Bakshi once again weaves a marvelously gritty, yet darkly humorous tapestry made up of love, prejudice, sex, and murderous betrayal, earning the controversial director the most critically acclaimed film of his career.

  1. Atari Adventure Square says:

Terrific and kinda off-putting Bakshi movie.
I just dig his animation style here, and anything set in Big City slums stirs my soul, for some reason.

Maybe all those Welcome Back Kotter, Chico and the Man, or Good Times episodes spoke to me.
Or maybe I wish I were a Warrior at heart (to come out to plaaa-eee-aaayyy, on Jersey beaches).

Looking forward to seeing if they did a decent transfer on this.
It *is* Shout Factory, so I’m already sold.
