Doug McCoy’s 80s Anthologies: Episode By Episode Podcast!

Bruce Willis - Shatterday - Twilight Zone
Thanks to fellow Retroist writer Doug McCoy I was invited along with our good friends Claymation Werewolf and Phishbon3s to take part in the 80s Anthologies: Episode By Episode Podcast!

In this first Podcast, Doug leads the discussion about the premiere episode of the ‘New’ Twilight Zone that debuted back in 1985 on the CBS Network. The podcast focuses on the segments ‘Shatterday’ starring Bruce Willis in which he plays Peter Novins, a man whose brush with the Twilight Zone involves accidentally dialing his home phone…and finding himself answering at home.
A Little Peace and Quiet - Twilight Zone
‘A Little Peace and Quiet’ starring Melinda Dillon (Close Encounters of the Third Kind) concerns a housewife that finds a curious pendant that allows her to freeze time whenever she wishes. Along with sharing the impact the episodes had on us when first viewed we offer up tidbits about those in front and behind the camera involved with the segments.

When you have a second why not give it a listen by visiting the podcast link up top or the McCoyCast site and download the MP3 or possibly visit iTunes?

  1. Having tons of trouble syncing with Itunes, so if anybody with more knowledge than me (which should be everybody here) can help, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Great idea for a podcast. I’ll be listening. Sorry I’m not much help with the tech side of it either.

    Doug,

What are the shows you will be covering?

Will you include Tales from the Crypt? It debuted summer 1989 but the majority of its run was the 90s.

  4. We’ve talked about doing the entire Twilight Zone run (65 episodes). I also have a list of AHP, TFTD, and Hitchhiker episodes I want to do. I’m up for anything else anyone suggests. If anyone wants to be a guest or suggest a show or get the list, email me at mccoy_douglas@hotmail.com

Amazing Stories would be a good one.

    Ray Bradbury Theatre
    Monsters
    Freddy’s Nightmares

Will you do the Twilight Zone in order until completed or mix it up and jump from series to series for your podcast episodes?

  6. SMDJ, not sure. I’ll have to see what my compatriots and any guests want to do. I only remember one episode of RBT, none of Monsters or Freddy’s Nightmares. Amazing Stories is on the list for sure!
