Saturday Frights - Sean Hartter
Welcome back to all of you fans of fiendish film and TV! Those howls you hear from the creatures of the night need be no cause for alarm, you are safe down here with us in the Retroist vault! Us? Yeah, that’s the one and only Doug McCoy behind the concession stand (He requested this episode by the way) and you can see the esteemed Daniel XII manning the projector!

For your viewing pleasure this evening we have episode 11 of the first season of NBC’s Alfred Hitchcock Presents, originally airing on January 5th 1986 entitled ‘The Gloating Place’. It’s a dark tale of a young woman who craving the attention she is not given by her parents and peers decides to fake an assault by a very real killer. The original story was written by Robert Bloch (Psycho, Night Gallery) which explains quite a bit I think in regards to the tension of this particular episode.

The Gloating Place stars Isabelle Walker (Real Genius, Amazing Stories) as Samantha Loomis, Stephen Macht (The Monster Squad, Graveyard Shift) as local news celebrity Carl Cansino, and features a brief cameo from Kristy Swanson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer 1992, The Phantom).

So come join us tonight as we visit the most dangerous location of all…the gloating place.
