I was never a plain Cheerios eater. I would only eat them when my family picked them up on sale (although I LOVED Honey Nut Cheerios). That all changed through what I guess you could call cereal immersion.
One year in the 1980s a pretty bad snowstorm hit our town and we were effectively snowed in with very little in the way of food. But we did have 4 boxes of Cheerios. So for two days all I ate was Cheerios for breakfast, lunch and dinner. By the end of the storm I was a fan of the cereal and did not feel the need to add copious amounts of sugar to it. I had Go Power!
