Cheap Trick performing “Surrender” on The Midnight Special

cheap-trick

Cheap Trick rocked Burt Sugarman’s The Midnight Special on just one occasion. They performed “Surrender” on that appearance in 1978. My sisters were big Cheap Trick fans and I cannot tell you the countless times I heard this song through my walls as a kid. I didn’t even know myself until a couple of years ago when someone asked me about the song and one of the lyrics and I started to recite the song verbatim. I was brainwashed by Cheap Trick!!

  1. Awesome performance by Cheap Trick for sure. What really caught my eye was the drummer smoking a cigarette while smashing on the drums at the beginning, especially at the 1:10 mark in the video, then later it’s gone. Did he eat it? Hehe.

This song always brings to mind a great scene in Detroit Rock City :)
