Smoking Monkeys, the Monkeys from the Wrong Side of the Tracks

You know I can’t remember where I first saw the smoking monkey but it was probably one of my parent’s friends that had it. I do remember being amazed watching this monkey puffing away on his cigarette. I believe the one I saw was a ceramic figure but cheaper plastic versions were available in the dime stores in the 50’s and 60’s and you can still find them being sold on eBay. From what I understand the cigarettes are made from incenses separated by a small propellant that makes it look like they are smoking and each cigarette last about a minute and half. Here’s a video of a couple monkeys just chilling and having a smoke. They even blow a couple good smoke rings too

I'm a kid of the 70's and 80's. Grew up on Saturday morning cartoons, Atari and Music Videos. My current hobby is repairing arcade games, mostly from the 70's and trying to find space to put them.

I begged my parents for a pet monkey as a child. I would have settled for one of those amazing smoking monkeys.
