Bugle Boy Clothes Tags

How retro are you, Doug? So retro that I buy and wear retro clothes. Just tonight I got two Bugle Boy pull over shirts. Bugle Boy was the brand in my high school, and I didn’t have much of their stuff then, but I’m making up for lost time now. What made these BB shirts extra special was that they were NWT (new with tags). I cut off the tags since I plan to wear the shirts, but I didn’t throw them away. Instead, I scanned them and then saved them with all my other nostalgic items. There is a lot we can learn from these tags: original price, store they came from, logo history, etc. I think one of the most impressive, though, is how many mottos BB had in the 90s (90s? Yeah, I guess they crossed over from the 80s, when they were really big, into the 90s, when they were probably upstaged by grunge fashion). “Inspired by new optimism.” “Where legends are made.” “Be a part of the new era.” “Creative unity.” Come on, guys, pick one already. And pick a better one than those.

  1. Wow I didn’t realize how pricey BB was back then, it probably explains why I only had 2 pairs of pants and the rest where from Kmart.
