PM Magazine Covers the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee

When I heard a World’s Fair was coming to Knoxville, Tennessee in 1982, my reaction was the same as many of the people in this segment. Whaaa? If you were curious as to why and how the World’s Fair made it to Knoxville just keep watching. They talk about the process and why Knoxville made such a perfect destination. Another fun fact I did not know about this Fair, it had more International Pavilions than any World’s Fair since 1939.

If you cannot watch the whole video, the promo at around the 3:30 mark is amazing.

All I knew, prior to this video, I learned from the Simpsons episode where they visit the Sunsphere (since converted to a wig emporium). Haven’t seen it? Worth your time: “Bart on the Road”, circa 1996.
